The Color Blue - $300
Make your own 6 Pan Custom Blue Watercolor set with Blue Pigments from around the world!
In this unique 4 hour workshop we will explore one of the worlds most cherished colors, BLUE. Using a glass muller and palette knives, we will transform dry pigments and resins into lush highly saturated watercolor paints. Choose up to 6 pigments to work with, ranging from historic semi-precious stones to the most recent modern synthetics. We will explore the role of various chalks used in the paint making process and their effects on the resulting color. Participants are welcome to combine various pigments and chalks to make their own custom mixtures.
We will cover the fundamentals of pigment behavior, surfactants, synthetic, and natural binders. Participants will receive realtime feedback throughout the session, so they can continue making paint on their own. We will also cover safe disposal practices and basic toxicity classifications according to Arts and Creative Materials Institute (ACMI) standards.
